Red Flowers

Painting flowers is one of my favorite subjects!

Flowers are the universal symbols of beauty, and not surprisingly, they are represented in all the significant art movements. For inspiration, I browse some art books, take a walk, and then create a value study.

This step is often overlooked, but I've noticed that the final artwork looks different when I'm not lazy (heheh) and make a study in my sketchbook.

As a true art supply maniac, I've collected a few watercolor sets, and for this Rose, I used my red color set with various hues \_(♥‿♥)_/

I've painted some swatches on hand-made watercolor paper.

It feels like just comparing and mixing these colors can be an excellent creative occupation for hours! (ahh where can we find the time?)

By combining Quinacridone Pink, Sennelier Red, Cadmium Red, and Orange, I add brilliance and a rich glow to the Rose flower.

I was inspired by Carnation and worked in Procreate for the digital part with my brushes.

Using the smudge tool and textures, I tried to add a painterly feel and interest to the digital art.

You can find all the files in the class Resources section.

I hope you enjoyed painting with me and that this class inspired you to make art in these challenging times.

See you there!

Can't wait to see what you create! <3
