Kris, I love how you did this!! Great reflections and color, and use of shapes. This is one of my favorites of all your paintings.  I am really liking how you make use of that round paper, it is like we are peeking in and seeing this great scene. Well done!

Thank you my friend. I am really lovin' the round paper too. It does feel like a spyglass view. This was my last piece! Apparently I've painted 20 round paintings, who knew?I love to paint these with Will, his rainy day cityscapes are so wildly imaginative.  I like to see what kind of postures and poses in the tiny people. I try to limit them to 1-5 strokes with as big a brush as I can manage. I painted a family walking in the snow recently. A mom, dad and two kids. The artist I was following painted the Mom looking at the smaller child, the Dad looking ahead and holding the second child's hand. I got : Mom looking at younger child who was apparently shrugging over throwing a snowball at her. Dad soldiering forward and second child looking into the spooky trees on the left side of the painting, while carrying a stick I think was meant to be his Dad's walking stick, lol.

Wow, this circular interpretation is so dynamic and atmospheric. The reflections and bold colour contrasts create such a strong sense of movement and light, and the round format makes it feel beautifully immersive. I love how you simplified the shapes yet kept so much energy and imagination in the piece. What a brilliant use of that precious last sheet of round paper!

Will, thank you for another exciting rainy cityscape, I just love them. Did you see that toddler on the left in Christine's painting?I love it when you pop little people in your tutorials. It amazes me how just a couple of strokes gets us the form gesture in the human form. That guy who isn't standing up staight, the cute young lady in her skirt, the posture in the form of people waiting outside in the cold. It's so cool! That round paper is like my new gimmick,  lol, I ve got to order some more. I bought it to paint multiple little paintings of my friend's dog who crossed the rainbow bridge. She had an amazingly expressive face (the dog) , not my friend. It feels like looking through a spyglass. But I wouldn't want to professionally matte and frame one, it would cost a fortune.

Thank you so much Kris, this made me smile!I went back to have a look and I do see the toddler in Christine’s painting! 😆 You must be good at Where's Wally/Waldo with observtion skills like that! I absolutely love when those tiny narrative details kind of spontaneously happen in a piece like this. This types of my paintings are my favourite and I will continue to do classes of them every now and then, even if they are so popular as my other subjects. I understand that people can feel intimidated by them, but this is a place for learning, not judgement and there’s so many transferable lessons in street scenes. Theres also an illusion of detail, most of the of the paintings as quite abstract, just with a few clean areas to give context and anchor the image.Your round paper is brilliant and unique. It genuinely does feel like peering through a spyglass, especially with a scene like this. The uniqueness of the format is part of the charm. Even unframed, they feel special. I can imagine the masking tape procedure is tricky as well! Thank you again for your enthusiasm, I am so glad you are enjoying these rainy cityscapes!

Thank you, Christine. This damn round paper i bought on a whim is making me look good. I think a pa8nting turns out better if you like what you're painting.  I love them, the rainy scenes by Will! I get lost, I mess up, but I love them.
