Race Blurb: Salamondra

The Salamondra are a race of reptilian folk who make their homes in the underground caverns of a volcanic region. they have smooth, charcoal black scales that absorb and disperse ambient heat, giving them a degree of fire resistance, as well as allowing them to camouflage against the cavern walls in order to hide from the massive, tunneling predators that also live there. They also have thick, powerful tails that they use to swim through the magma pockets of their home. The skin below their scales has a mild orange bioluminescence which helps them see in the dark, that they can turn on and off, so other races sometimes confuse them for literally being made of magma. The females are slightly larger on average than the males, whereas the males have large, swept back horns on their head that give the appearance of a sleek mane or helmet. they use their sharp claws, as well as tools made from the scavenged skeletons of the tunneling predators to hollow out living spaces in the cavern walls.
