Poster studies

Oh wow, I like it, I like doing these studies so much! Gouache is still as rebellious as usual with me, but I don't care, I had fun analyzing values.

I decided to try to find the simplified values by my own first, and then compare to the class. I thought it would come out the same because I had seen the whole class beforehand and subconsciously would find  the same value chunks, but oh surprise! nope. Even turning off one of my lights would be enough to change my perception of the values on the image! I have never been so conscious about value as when working on this class. That's why I loved it so much, its easy as can be but it makes your mind and artistic eye work hard.

Here are my first wonky attempts, even the cup drawing got better with repetition hahaha! (but not as noticeable as my gouache strokes messed up with the sketches) how cool is that?

As an extra bonus, scanning this value scale made me notice my scanner was a tad off, so I calibrated it to match real values, alas I can't get a clean and crisp white background without making the 3 first values merge into a single black, but this is more realistic.
