Portraits of family pets, adding more as I do them

As soon as I saw this course, I knew I had to watch it. Lisa Bardot is one of my favorite Skillshare teachers, and her stained glass course was actually what lured me onto Procreate in the first place.

Last April my mom and brother moved to Ohio and all three of our dogs and the cat and my mom’s cockatiel went with them as I was going to an apartment and also I didn’t want to break up the pack, so I’ve been doing a lot of art featuring them lately because I miss them a lot.

The oldest and the one who has belonged to our family longest is borzoi Bond, who is a tricolor with the blaze on his face and amazing cartoony eyebrows - he loves naps and cuddling his humans and cheeseburgers, and will sing in a lovely bass howl. My other brother actually owns his littermate, Sean (the litter was all named after Sean Connery movies). Bond came to us when he was a small puppy; we were his grandmother's retirement home and adored her and also were big fans of Bond's daddy, who was not only a champion show dog and amazing runner, but was also a huge sweetheart who loved to make friends with everyone and was such a Good Boy that even a very tiny girl could lead him around the ring.

Next is greyhound Reba, who was retired before she got to the track because she was just too playful. She loves meeting new people, toys, zoomies, and cuddles. Her mostly-black coloring does tend to make her a bit of a challenge to photograph and draw!

Our youngest dog is borzoi Birdie, who was actually sired by Bond’s half-brother. She’s the only one of our dogs with a Facebook because she came with a fan club - when she was a puppy she just stopped growing for a while and was found burrowing under her mama where she might not have been getting enough oxygen. It took her breeder, a whippet mama, and another woman who spent hours holding her and looking after her to keep her alive until she started to grow again. When she visited the breeder at twelve months old, the breeder said her behavior was closer to a twelve week old puppy. She turned two in February. She loves to climb and spin and pounce. She can’t wait for pumpkins to be in season because they are her favorite - she will pounce and dance around mini pumpkins and nudge them and sometimes even pick them up and spin with them. She has only just started figuring out that maybe cheeseburgers are food after all.

Alle, also known as Alle Gator or Gator Girl, actually belongs to my sister. She did some showing and had some pups (her first litter was actually a singleton who was playing with the mostly-weaned whippet pups while Mama Whippet was nursing Birdie), but she wanted to have a human she didn’t have to share with the other corgis. She loves toys and is very pampered, and she also loves to snack. She and Birdie love to play together when she’s visiting with the big dogs; she will try to herd Birdie into a corner and Birdie will jump over and around her. She also has some great facial expressions.

Our cat, JB, enjoys ruling the roost. He will sometimes play chase with the greyhound (which can be dangerous for many sighthound/cat combos, but they have worked things out well and we keep a close eye when they're playing like that). He also likes to put himself right by the door to the backyard when the dogs are out. He's an indoor cat but sometimes he thinks he wants to be partially an outdoor cat (he really doesn't, or wouldn't, if he had much sense.)
