I always love the simplicity of your work, there's always a good amount of detail and not so much :D unfortunately, every time I draw, I'm so focused on zooming in and getting all the details in. Which takes up so much time, and I have to keep on pushing projects back. And I don't know how to get out of that time-wasting habit :(

Thank you so much! So kind :)) I know what you mean! I've been there!  Here's what I'd try out...a big brush!  The brush in the brushset called Willow Charcoal Large will work for this.  It's nice because it has no size variation. So it forces you to focus on the bigger ideas of value, color, edges, and the overall lighting. It makes it impossible to get into too much detail really! This really helped me keep my mind focused on the bigger statement, versus getting caught up in small details.  What else can help is timed paintings! Give yourself a time limit and create a 45  minute or 1 hour long painterly portrait. That will teach you how to make every mark count! And you'll learn to work fast using your instincts.  Wishing you the best! Let me if you need help. And I've course, I'd love to see your take on this! :D

Wow! Thank you so much for the feedback I really appreciate it a lot! I'm gonna take some time and watch your most recent video and the one you recommended to practice more! I'll definitely show my work, I'd always love to hear everyone's thoughts on how I can make it better. Unfortunately, I don't use procreate, but I do use another great app called Adobesktech and it has some great features to use. I believe it has charcoal brushes, or just charcoal in general, big and small. I'll look into it. But once again thank you, I'm gonna tackle this :D

I really enjoyed painting this piece. I liked taking my time with it and appreciating all the different forms of the face.
