Create Beautiful Patterns with Illustrator's Pattern Tool

I have learned a bit from your adorable classes.  But somewhere I have missed a very important piece of information it seems.  Please help me understand how to save patterns to my swatches -- I have created a couple for your classes however they never seem to "stay" in my swatches like in Photoshop.  Also how do you save files that can be used on websites like Spoonflower, S6 and Redbubble?? Thank you!!!

Here is another example of a&nbsp;tossed pattern using the pattern tool. I recolored using the same color palette, but limiting the amount of colors used.&nbsp;
