Plumeria--mixed media

Plumeria--mixed media - student project

I really enjoyed this class, especially the exploration around the CMYK color wheel.  I filled several pages in my sketchbook playing with the differences in tint/tone/shade when mixing my watercolors with different  whites, greys and blacks. There was a huge difference in the tint that resulted when using buff titanium vs. white gouache for example, and while neutral tint and lunar black gave very nice variations in shades, Jane's Black (pyrrol crimson and phthalo green BS) was so intense that no matter how little I used all the hues ended up looking the same.

The florals were a lot of fun, and I'm looking forward to playing around with different combinations of complements--I made the strips for each of the hues I'm using in the CMYK palette, and that was a great exercise.
