Pilot Issue - Intellectual Magazine

I was tasked with creating a pilot issue for an intellectual society considering publishing their activities, reports, and reviews in a more modern and visually appealing way. Not having worked with InDesign for 8 years, I've decided that I need a refresher. Plus, I've never designed a magazine, only ever a booklet or two.

I was so happy to find this incredibly detailed course! Elias provides a step-by-step tutorial you can follow directly, which I have done for the first sessions. I found the setup and the explanation for all the settings and how to use them invaluable for learning. I strayed a bit later on when I felt secure enough to implement my style while still learning from Elias what else is possible.

**Layout and Design Decisions**

Most of the layout decisions I made came from the content. I had to use the images provided by the society, which were not always the best quality or showed the things I needed.

I went for a clean, simple design following the course set-up since it was a similar target audience. The colours used are those of the society, and I decided to go with two basic but well-readable fonts since the magazine was intended to be printed - so no zooming in.

I've converted the text into gibberish and blurred some images for data privacy reasons. So, if you see any images that look stranger than usual, that's due to the missing blur function in InDesign ;u;

Unfortunately, the society decided not to continue with the projects for internal reasons, but the magazine was well-received. :D

Thanks for that fantastic course!
