Beautiful pattern Olivia! I love the intricacy of it. Very well planned out and illustrated!  As far as preparing the pattern for a client, I typically open up a new file. Create a shape and then fill the shape with the pattern. I then go in my swatches palette and delete all the colors except for the pattern swatch. This will not only help you deliver a clean workspace for the client, but you will also reduce the file size by deleting the unwanted swatches.  Hope that answers your question.  Please update your project with any future patterns you create, Would love to see more of your work!

Thank you for the reply! That totally makes sense. I have been playing around with the pattern tool all weekend and I can't wait to use some more time with it. It makes me cringe a little that I have been doing it the traditional way for so long without researching if there was an easier way :p I will try some more color palettes for this pattern and upload them here when I get a chance :) 

This is a good pattern and class. I am waiting for my Cs6 illustrator update. I am looking forward...

This was such a fun exercise! I have only created a one colored pattern thus far, but I am super excited to start creating collections. I have been making patters for a while, but the old fashioned way in photoshop with snap guides - this is SO MUCH EASIER and more fun to play around with! Is there a way to save the swatch for the pattern to open up separately from the artwork in illustrator? If I am just asked to send the pattern swatch - is there a correct way to save it?&nbsp;
