I really enjoyed your class, Kellie. I’m not the best at working with large wet-on-wet areas, so the process you taught—working in steps and building layers to create the waves was a wonderful approach for me. Recently, after returning from vacation, I thought it would be fun to paint a scene from the beautiful island of Hawaii using the techniques I learned in your class. 

However, I believe I would have gained more from the experience if I had followed your class project instead of trying to venture out on my own. I did manage to capture some waves in the water, but they turned out so small that they lack the beautiful impact of the waves you demonstrated in class. Additionally, I overworked the watercolors, which caused me to lose the lovely translucency effects they can create.

Despite these challenges, I always gain something during any paint session and it felt amazing to get my hands on a paintbrush again and dab away. Thank you for offering such a fun class!
