New World Coffee

New World Coffee - student project

A coffee shop founded in England during the time of large coffee adoption, and paired with the importing of new and exotic spices and fruits collected from around the world. Outside of showcasing the newest spices and fruits, the shop finds unique ways to pair the flavors with coffee and other drinks, providing new flavor experiences periodically, while also inspiring culinary minds and creating a physical space for discussion around the spice trade.

The drink showcased is called the Zesty Trader due to its zesty orange flavor intensifying the longer it sits (like the desire of a trader to close a deal), and would be part of the fruit and spice infused drink menu. It uses orange peel, cinnamon, and a splash of milk. As the drinks sits, the orange peel is steeped, changing the flavor with time to add more zest.

Due to limited technology at the house of the family I am currently visiting, I used café espresso. However, this time period would actually use a more simple brewing method. Please see the video attached for the full process.
