My second attempt at a watercolor portrait

I tried to do one myself about 3 years ago. It sure helps to have a great teacher and to watch as you do it, with all the tips and guidance. I can see a big difference between my attempts this time and the prior one. Thank you for a GREAT class, Jane.

These first two were photographed in different lighting. One in the sunlight; the other in the shade. It sure makes a huge difference. The third photo is a second attempt at the same reference photo. I couldn't choose one over the other - just different. Any tips or observations are appreciated. This paper is peculiar. I recall it being sold as watercolor paper, but it sure doesn't look like it. Good for practicing, though.
