The first image is my worst oil pastel drawing. I am new to this medium and am learning how to build and blend. These are supposed to be hot air balloons in a sunset.

My inner critic was very... critical. 

• Those are clouds? you need to learn what those look like. 
• and what direction is the sun coming from exactly??
• Why is everything the same value? Shadow much?
• You should probably just stop.

 

For "My Best" ... Perhaps this isn't my best, but it's one of my favorites. I painted this this for my son's bedroom. There should be 3 more to match but.... that hasn't happened yet. My inner critic for this is more along the lines of the BORING background and more significantly how it has been 6 months and I have hardly started the second of the 4 paintings. How I am a bad mother for letting him down, a bad artist for taking so many breaks. and more guilt over why I even promise to deliver.
