Moody scenes with lifting technique

Moody scenes with lifting technique - student project

I love this technique! Thank you for teaching it!

It's so nice to get all these moody night time or deep dark sea scenes by lifting color. I guess it would also work for lighter illustrations, but as you said it works best with a good contrast.

After experimenting I did these fishies first.

And then I went for two woodland illustrations, one with a hedgehog and one with a squirrel. They might be a bit too sweet for my liking, but my daughter (she's 17) was totally in love with them :)

Here I realized that using paper with a smooth surface would have been a bit better, because I'm not sure I like the textures I got with my pencils.

The hedgehog was done on really cheap paper that didn't have this issue as much.

I'll definitely be using this technique some more! Thank you Ania, for another wonderful class!
