Making Festive Christmas Cards
Starting from doodles and sketches on a piece of paper, I made bunch of professional looking greeting cards that I plan to offer my loved ones for Christmas I've put them for sale in my Etsy shop!
For this project, I had something in particular in mind: I wanted to design floral greeting cards, with a "winter-y" touch!
Once my sketching was done and the artwork transferred to my laptop ( vectorized in Illustrator), I ended up with these 3 designs (2 patterns and 1 central illustration).
I set up in Illustrator the card templates that I used to print and assemble the Christmas cards. I created a template for each type of card: with and without bleed.
I copy-pasted my card designs into the appropriate template and printed the cards on glossy cardstock.
Using basic tools that I have around the house (if you want to be making handmade cards professionally, you might consider investing in dedicated tools such as a Paper trimmer, Corner rounder tool, Exacto knife, Scoring Board), I scored my cards and have them cut along the crop marks.
I ended up making a bunch of cards, using older doodles and "re-furbishing" old ideas, as well!
I'll be gifting some of the cards I made for this class and I even decided to add some designs to my Etsy shop!
I'd love to see what you make during this class, so make sure to share your sketches, designs and cards with your classmates and I!
Happy crafting!
