Luminous Magic Illustration

Luminous Magic Illustration - student project

My 2nd painting~

I really liked the luminous effects from this class for creating light and wanted to do another one. I went with a snow painting with home lite up in winter in an illustrative style. (working on Christmas card painting ideas). I love the brick you demo in your tutorial and practiced doing it, but area was not very big and my brick looked wonky. Decided to make it more of a stone look, which also turned out wonky, but stuck with it anyway.  The point is practice and for a Christmas card it will be ok. I don’t have a very steady hand, but I did ok considering I did not use any masking fluid. One of the trees looks like it is coming out of the chimney, but that’s just the talk of the towns folk. lol….

I earmarked this tutorial as it works so well for this type of painting.

I used Trans yellow, yellow ochre, cad red, Naple’s yellow, buff titanium, German Raw Umber, Neutral Tint, Indigo, Payne’s grey, Ultramarine Blue and Rich Green Gold.

My 1st Painting

I veered some from the tutorial, creating my own illustration but following the luminous effects in the outside sky and the tree bulbs, instead of inside.  It’s not as luminous as I imagined it, but overall it fit the need of a possible Christmas card. Thanks Olga, your class was helpful and informative.
