I agree with Kris. The base structure  of you subject looks just fine. I encourage you to practice pencil sketches. You will improve quickly, Carmen. I'm not sure what tool you use, and what you mean exactly by "freeze the screen". I'd just pause the video player for the time of tracing. Or if you like to make a "screenshot", on the iPad, you can do that by pressing the power and the home button (or one of the volume buttons) at the same time. Hope this helps. Even if you are not satisfied with the likeness, your character definitely has a personality. You're on a good path. 🙂

thank you Tamas. i use a laptop and since is touchscreen (as everything is!) I can;t put a tracing paper on top screen it keeps moving.  I usually print out the outline to my printer but this one had none just the full portrait.

Oh, I see, Carmen. Then try this search: "windows turn off touchscreen". It gives you instructions on how you can disable the touchscreen for the time of the trace. It's really just a few steps in Windows settings.

yes tried all that but just wouldn;t work for me. Is okay i appreciate the effort to help!

Carmen, I love this! It reminds me of Joni Mitchell. I love the colour palette!

Carmen, you are so great at finding these unique classes. I think your drawing is solid, if not the portrait wouldn't work. The muted purple and burnt orange hues are striking. this type of localized shading is very difficult to do. Well done.

Carmen, this is really good, love how you got the shadowing on the face and neck to give a three dimensional look. Nicely done!

Carmen, kreslení od ruky bylo tou nejlepší volbou, protože to dalo portrétu jedinečnou duši a neuvěřitelnou hloubku. Výraz v její tváři je velmi silný a barevné přechody jsou krásné. Buď hrdá na to, že jsi to vytvořila úplně sama.

She looks nothing like the demo as I had to sketch it freehand. Can't print out too much ink. I prefer when some teachers provide the outline in pdf.  I did enjoy the class and msybe one day if I can figure out how to freeze my touch screen then I could trace from on screen.
