Learning to use charcoal
Thank you! I've learned so much. The overview of the different types of charcoal and their tools was very helpful. Although my drawings are not polished and finished, I was able to get a feel and handle on how to use the various types of charcoal together. It seemed natural to begin with the forgiving vine charcoal to map out the drawing then working in the finer details with the charcoal pencils. I was surprised how effective the white charcoal pencil was over the top of the charcoal and found the kneaded eraser was useful to subtract the value. I did not have a brush nor compressed charcoal, but am excited to add those to my tool box. Again, thank you so sharing your knowledge. I have a good base knowledge to begin and feel successful with charcoal drawings.
