I used 100% cotton satin-finish paper for the exercises on light filtering through the trees and for the final paintings. I didn't have Cadmium Red, so—after some trial and error—I decided to substitute it with Pyrrole Red; it is certainly more transparent, and I struggled a bit to achieve that vibrant tone in the transitions... but never mind, it’s all part of the practice. Thank you, teacher; in this class, not only did I learn how to paint light filtering through the trees, but I also truly let myself dream. I chose to depict myself in both paintings exactly as I am in real life: with my head always in the clouds and my legs always crossed.
