This photograph was taken in Port Townsend, Washington, a quick ferry ride from Seattle. My close friend and I love to go on epic photography adventures in hopes of acquiring some amazing captures. We usually end up with the most "okayest" photos you've ever seen. Thanks to this class, I now have a few new ways of breathing life into our shots and making them fiercely more dynamic. 

This photograph is the original photograph. It was shot with my friend's infrared converted camera. It has potential but not quite amazing yet.

This is the "Faux Orton" version. I also did a few basic adjustments to contrast and shadows before I applied the Faux Orton technique. I felt like the little stone shelter needed to be the sharpest point in the photograph, so I took the eraser with soft edges and 50% opacity and erased out the blur over the shelter. Then I added the "Selenium" gradient map over it to give it a more sepia look, also adjusting the sliders in that adjustment layer. 

In this version, I applied the gradient map adjustment layer using the photographic effects selection after I improved the contrast. I love how I casts a golden light over a mostly cool toned image. It completely transformed my drab original into something much more spectacular.
