Knowing My Art!

Hello everyone, I am an illustrator from Ukraine and I've just started working on my project. Part #3 about my value is the hardest for me. I literally stuck there.  But, probably your comments or feedback will help me to break through this wall :)

PART1. My Virtuosity

1. I prefer to work with saturated colors and clear shapes. I love circles and straight lines. I try to simplify all details in my characters, such as hands and faces. Usually, I add scabrous texture to my art to add a feeling of something physical. I try to make my objects flexible and soft, I try to avoid sharp elements. I like to add something quirks to my illustrations. Life is always messy, but I like the challenge of translating something imperfect into my clean, digital style.

2. My style looks whimsical and playful. Due to the bright colors, it has a sense of energy and a good mood.

3. It’s more literal and straightforward.

4. Well, mostly my illustrations are good for picture books, but also I think it is good for posters and advertisement.

5. Most of the work I do on my Ipad. I use Procreate for picture books and Affinity Designer to do my artwork (usually for advertisement) in vector. I like to search for references and ideas to start with. I collect so much stuff to start my work: from random photos from real life to color palettes. And, of course, I observe. My biggest inspiration is the world itself. Look at this amazing guy from the gym. He is totally fabulous! All those characters are just around us. I just like o take real people and hyperbolize them.

6. I am a fast worker. But, actually, that’s not my will.  I hate to be rushed. But for editorial, it can be challenging to get things finished on time when deadlines are tight, which is pretty much always. In my reality, I don’t have enough time to relax. Usually, illustration has to be done in 1-2 days. Of course, if I have time I would spend more time researching and gathering ideas.

7. Well, the research and sketching stage are the most important stages for me and I need to be alone. But, then, when sketches are ready I can work almost anywhere. I just need some lofi music and my Ipad.

Part 2: My Vision

1. I believe an illustration is a nice form of speech that can move peoples’ minds and souls. I illustrate this because I get a lot of joy during the process.  I like the opportunity to share stories: big and small, important and not so much.

2. I love doing research and sketches. I like this feeling when you are getting to know more about the subject. Through the sketch, I am trying to find the right balance of unity vs variety.

3. I am not sure, but overall I like every part of the illustration process. haha, of course, I don’t like a lot of edits. This always shows me that I went the wrong way.
4. wow) that’s a nice question. Actually, for me dream client is a prospect that is potentially much bigger than my average client. This is not just about the profit. I am talking here much more about personal growth, new skills, connections, collaborations and perspective clients. A dream client is a person (company, etc) who will come into my life once and would stay in my heart forever.

5. I would like to work on a project within a super skilled team. In this life stage, team and mentor are much more valuable to me than the topic of the project. I would like to get new skills and be taught to become a better way of myself. I am searching for a long-term collaboration where I can be useful and tell stories through visual solutions.

6. I want people to feel better, to get some fun and I want them to smile.

7. I want to be an in-demand artist who is working with big brands.

8. Editorial, advertisement, children’s book -most interest me.

9. Portraiture, anime, fantasy, gallery art - less.
