This was such a FUN project! I decided to make a postcard for my hometown of Kladno. It's located in Central Bohemia region of Czech Republic, less than an hour away from Prague. It is not a particularly significant city (got big because of mining and industry) which makes this postcard much funnier (to me, at least).

 

What's in it?

* K = we've got a small chateau with two bears in the garden

* L = L is for LEGO! Kladno has a giant packaging plant for Legos (it's true, check the LEGO Wiki)

* A = the town hall

* D = some leftovers of the city's industrial past (there's a lot of abandoned factories etc.)

* N = Ice Hockey is big in Kladno, Jaromir Jagr is the most famous player from here

* O = my Gymnasium (grammar school), yay! old-ass building

* top = famous "věžáky", communist-era tall buildings

* bottom = the main church + some bits of one of the modern parks

* color scheme = blue & white are the colors of the city + shades of brown because that's kind of how the city feels :D 

 

My Process

I didn't do many drawings in the finished postcard because of time - just stylised some photos in Photoshop.

I am taking this class to gather some skills for a work project and probably couldn't justify detailed drawings of some elements from my hometown to my boss :D

 

Anyways - learned some cool stuff here & had fun trying everything out. Downloaded the free packs from the website Brad kept promoting so hey, i guess it worked :D
