Kitty in colored pencil using solvents for blending

Kitty in colored pencil using solvents for blending - image 1 - student project

I love blendedcolored pencil drawings. I tried this with student grade primacolor wax based colored pencils and watercolor blending medium and ordorless mineral spirits. I would dearly love a bottle of Zest it but EBay was craching today. Its probably a good thing because it would have been 29.99  Zest it + 15.30 shipping+ 7.65 import tax + 2.53 tax = $55.47

This is a fun class. Colored pencil is never fast but this blending technique is a game changer because you can add more layers after the blend. Blending slumps and pencils and other burnishing devises crush the tooth of the paper and that is game over for more layers. But solvents make more color addition possible and smooth the drawing .This is technically a multimedia piece because I used  Dr. PH Martin watercolor paint for the highlights. I could not get the Cara D'ache luminance white pencil to work for me. Lol , yes I know how to use a pencil, lol! I also damaged the paper not waiting for my solvent to totally dry and coloring over a small wet area. Wait for your solvent to dry as Kristy advises☺️
