Just Showing Up

I really appreciate Dylan’s teaching style. Sit down, paint, create..might be good, might be bad. Is all ok.
I debated whether or not to post this project but practicing showing up and doing it was the point, right?
The colors calling to me today. That’s a lot. Always my problem.
I went with these colors and painted the background. (I only had really wide painter’s tape but oh, well…)
- Lemon Yellow, Ash Blue, Opera Pink, Deep Green, Cosmos Pink, Ash Rose, and Beige
I loved the idea of blocking in the composition with a light color and letting it show through. I think if I look back at why this isn’t my favorite thing I ever made it might be the composition step and my choices.
I still love the blocking showing through. But the rest? Eh.
Even though I’m not in love with the final result, it was good to just paint without expectation.
-The “dark” helped.
-Neon paint never photographs well. And the dreaded “bleed”
Dylan, thank you for the grace, the talk, the shaking, the courage…it gives others the room to do the same.
