I Was Raised on Country Sunshine

I start my day off with this song by Dottie West each morning. Although I've been living in a city for 12 years now, her lyrics are very nostalgic of the small town I grew up in, in Michigan.

I've highlighted in yellow the words which brought visuals to my design - blue birds, daisies, sunshine, grass, morning, night…

SKETCHES AND INKING

Drew inspiration from Farmer's Market Signage, containers; elements drawn from quilts using stitching, patters, geometric shapes.

COLOR STUDIES

Blue, Reds, Greens, Yellows reminded me of all things Country from green grass, sunshine, and blue skies.

The Pink, Green, Yellow reminded me of the quilts Grandmothers always make.

I had mixed feelings about the tiny flowers in the inner background. On a few I liked them having more pop, however on others, I felt they worked best less subdued in the design.
