What a fun few days painting the lovely “Uzuri”.  Jane your style of teaching is so unique.  I couldn’t quite achieve the great mottled wet on wet look, but improvised and moved forward.

I live in the Pacific Northwest Oregon and our weather has been hot and dry.  My paper dried almost before I could load my brush.  The 2nd layer dried even faster, so I decided to put down water in very small areas to try and keep the paint moving, but it really is arid dry.  No complaining here though, the sunshine is always a pleasure.

The biggest challenge was actually the mane. Even the thicker paint was drying fairly quickly and  I must have practiced with different tools and processes for over an hour.  I finally decided to go with a fan brush without putting any paint down first. Where there is a will there is a way so they say!  I did my own drawing this time and worked hard at the nostrils and eyes and was happy enough to quit ‘futzing’ if that is a word. I kind of lost the beautiful colorful Transparent Brown, but all was not lost Overall I am very happy with the end result.

I will look forward to painting with you some more, so until next time, cheers!
