Yesterday I read about the owner of grumpy cat and how she made a fortune out of it. I also found skillshare 30 minutes later and this class caught my intrest. 

Finding source material for grumpy cat is not a problem. I liked this one, great attitude and perfectly front shot:

I opened Inkscape (free illustrator clone) and made a quick line sketch:

I only did one iteration with bolder lines, it took long enough anyways. I probably spend 80% of the time working with the nose-mouth area to get the right level of grumpiness:

I added some color in Inkscape:

... and then played around in Photoshop until I suddenly found an interesting yellow color that I liked. I prefer using open source software but Gimp is a nightmare and as a usability engineer I just can't stand it.

I happy with the result and will probably continue doing other classes here on skillshare :)
