Grounded Art - my word for the year

Grounded Art - my word for the year - image 1 - student projectI'm not quite sure this was what Fatih had in mind when he guided his students through the Grounded Art class, but this was what I came up with....

I had already chosen and recorded my word for the year in my bullet journal back in January so my focus was on how I was going to express it in art.  My word, LET is such a small word and can lead to so many interpretations but this year I want to focus on LETTING God work in my life and purposely aligning myself to Him.  If that means LETTING GO of some of my own plans and determinations then that's what I'll do.

The drifting away of dandelion fluff seemed like a great image of letting go and letting God and then I got inspired by some Zentangle mandalas that I've played around with before for mindful art...

All in all I'm pleased with my drawing though I wish I could have gotten the colors a bit brighter (I worked with water colors and colored pencils and water-color pencils.  This was great fun and it would be nice to start every year with a Word of the Year art project!
