Gouache - Creating the illusion of light

Thank you Ayna for this great and fun class on gouache! Even though I'm not completely happy with my own results, I truly enjoyed experimenting with this medium (that its still very new to me).

I had some struggles along the way - most of them centered on the fact that I'm used to watercolors and kept trying to use gouache the same way :) I kept adding water while painting... and that went bad. Halfway through it, I thought of just starting again, but in the end decided to use the practice and kept going.

Notes:

This was the first time I used this paper (canson student line) and I knew it was going to be difficult because of the texture. Since it was a gift, I decided to try the paper anyway, but the paint really doesn't flow well, especially goauche that is more creamy then watercolors. So, next time - different paper (or the back side of this one).

The paint I used is simple cheap gouache that I bought at a stationary store near my house, and it was a bit difficult to get the mixes right... I plan on investing on some decent gouache paints in the future.

Since I was not familiar with the materials and techniques, I used more layers then necessary. And because of my 'watercolor habit' I ended up with a more blended effect.

In the end I'm really happy with all the practice I got and all the tips and useful information Ayna shares with us. I'll definetely check her previous class to build up my knowledge on gouache. I'm also happy with my tree :)
