From "M" to a Sphynx that Carries Its Home

Here's how I found the character hiding in the first letter of my name.

Step 1: My name's first initial. I started with a big "M" with a simple shadow, so I could see its shapes clearly.

Step 2: First trace. I placed tracing paper over the letter and outlined it lightly. While tracing, I started to see a face in the top right corner and a small house on the left side.

Step 3: Finding the character. On a fresh sheet, I sketched only what I saw. The left arch became a back carrying a house, the right side became a head and neck, and the legs of the M stayed legs. This is where the character appeared.

Step 4: Inking. I went over the sketch with a fine liner and added details: curls, freckles, a small crown, a chimney with smoke and some clouds.

Step 5: Adding colors and details. I colored the body warm yellow and the house blue, then added stars, swirls and little fur strokes for texture.

Step 6: Final reveal. My Sphynx, who carries its home wherever it goes.

If you're not sure what you see in your letter yet, just trace it and keep looking. The character shows up while you draw.
