Flying Duck

Flying Duck - student project

I had a ridiculous amount of fun doing this project.  I used to do these all the time as a kid, scribble on a piece of paper, draw a simple picture in amongst it and use colour to pick out the design. Your reference layer and colour drop project reminded of that style and inspired this little guy.  We have the ducks returning to London and pairing up after wintering in warmer climes and that gave me the idea for the theme. This is him before and after hiding the scribble layer. I think I prefer the lighter look but then the black lines reminds me of leaded windows.

I also played around with adding a little texture and effects by duplicating the colour drop layer, alpha-locking it and going over with a textured brush. I then changed the layer to colour burn which made the colours really burst and then overlay which looks almost like stone mosaics to get a couple more different looks.

Loved playing around like this and will definitely be doing more of it.  Thanks for another awesome classs Stephanie.
