Flower-Sky Mini-Landscape

Revision/Take-2

Flower-Sky Mini-Landscape - image 1 - student project

Watched class again. Took notes. All colors and brushes ready.  Failed to use burnt umber and burnt sienna last time, but the lost was found.

Thanks again to all for feedback and for taking a look!

First Take: Flower Sad

Flower-Sky Mini-Landscape - image 2 - student project

All Daniel Smith. Fuumuui paper 100% cotton/300g/140 lbs. 8" x 8" Colors: Ultra-B, Phthalo-B - RS, Burnt Sienna, Yellow Ochre, aureolin, a couple tiny smidges of watery quin-pink (sky), and a drop of neutral tint to deepen the brownish-reddish band around crown of the flower which, if I recall correctly, was mixed lunar earth and raw sienna.

Feedback and tips welcome.

First try on anything like this so rewatched a couple times and stopped during my painting many times. Class was lovely and plan to keep trying more like these. Also forgot about the watercolor pencil which is genius. Thanks, Paul, for such an uplifting and informative class for this learner.

PS Didn't realize I had a headache brewing while painting even though everything had sort of like buzzy look, and I was too lazy to get the tube of burnt umber forgetting it was near me. Mea culpa!  Weird aura around the flower too., huh? Fix?
