I love seeing this first round and how much you explored right out of the gate. There is such a nice mix of circles, lines, crosses, and looping shapes here and it already feels very playful and curious. Those layered dots and rings are especially fun. You can really see how you were testing positive and negative space and how different cuts change the energy of each piece. Working on the semi-plastic paper was a smart move while you wait. It is great practice, and you can already see which shapes feel easiest to cut and which ones want a little more patience. I also like that you tried both masks and stencils. That comparison is so helpful and will make painting feel more intuitive later. This is a fantastic setup for when the yupo arrives. You are building a really strong visual vocabulary already. I cannot wait to see what happens once you start painting with these. Keep playing and following that curiosity because it is really showing up here 😊

Waiting for my yupo paper to arrive, so I tried using some random semi-plasticized paper pieces I had about. Cutting a mask is much easier, so I did a couple of those too. Painting next once I have opportunity to make some smaller stencils.
