Final Project

I’ve had a go at the illustrative journal habit demonstrated in this class. I got excited about my research and decided to create an entire journal to fill with spreads like this one. I’m going to call it “The Illustrative Journal of All The Things.” The first entry: fall leaves in Connecticut…

Hoping to continue this fun practice, in this home-made journal, although the planning took a week to sort out. Thanks for a cool class Imran, and putting up with all my posts in this section :)

ORIGINAL POST:

Forgive me for not following the entire process: I realize this isn’t about an everyday thing. I plan to continue (I’m still watching all the pieces of this class) but I had an idea today; I was thinking of my mom and a memory I had. I was inspired to use one of Imran’s layouts because he is an illustrator and I love how his pages look. I thought out how to present this memory, illustrating and then writing/journaling about the memory. I’m not great with people but I think I captured somewhat what my mom looked like in this funny memory. :) Here’s to more sketches to come on everyday topics. Planning to update as I continue.

UPDATE: finished the class. Made a simple sketch plan notebook (because I can - bookmaking is on my list of topics that interest me). Picked a topic: fall leaves in Connecticut and their colors. Did research that lead down a rabbit hole to a potential second sketching spread… next will be choosing a layout and illustrations and making a plan.
