Figure Drawing Exercises

Hello Siobhan,

Here are the 4 figure drawings I made for your project.

I made all of these drawings from one of my sketchbooks with a mechanical pencil which may not have been the best setup, but I feel that I made the most of it all. Overall I have mixed feelings about all of them but I would love to hear your feedback.

So with the mechanical pencil, it was difficult to lightly press on the paper so I went back and forth around the edges to make the bolder look. I also messed up on the size of the stick and the look of the left leg.

I was definetely expecting this one to look worse but I think I could have done better. I started around the hair and when I moved on to the shirt I managed to get the hang of it.

Stick Drawing

For the stick drawing, I just placed my sketchbook on an easel and taped a bunch of paintbrushes and pencils together. It was pretty awkward when I started and it was nearly impossible to properly press it against the sketchbook, but eventually I got the hang of it.

Blind Drawing

As you can tell, this was my worst of the 4. I decided to use my OC as a reference which I knew was gonna be nearly impossible, but I wanted to give it a shot. This was my best of 3 attempts which still isn't what I hoped for but I can kind of tell where I was going.

I have to say this class was everything that I wanted it to be. I've been struggling with traditional sketches and especcially character designs for a long time and what you taught me is deffinetely going to help me going forward.
