Face Grid Collage

With this collage, I started with a magazine ad that measured 6" by 6" rather than using a template. For the squares, I used some leftovers that I had from other projects. They were selected mainly according to color, and I made sure that I had 2 or 3 of each color, because that would create a more harmonious composition.
To position the squares, I used a ruler. Also, I started gluing along the edges and corners, because there was one side of the square at least that could be lined up with the background image underneath.
For me, the finished image is a portrait made slightly mysterious by the grid of carefully placed subdued colors that hides the features of the person.
