Evil Speaks
THE CHAMPION
BY CHARLES EGBERT CRADDOCK
(I took my information from this book)
Devil looking
out the window,
traffic in the streets,
unchecked.
Cable-cars whizzed past,
Clanging clamor
Great rumbling vans,
laden with freight.
Carriages rolling noiselessly,
rubber-tired wheels.
Sidewalks crowded pedestrians,
men and boys,
ladies, children
boldly came and went.
Over neighboring crossing,
could plainly see,
the devil's head
poking out a high window.
Shrill tones,
devil's voice,
Discoursed to his friend within.
