Dreamy Countryside in Pastels

Wiktoria, this was an amazing pastel class! Thank you for your wonderful guidance and helpful tips throughout the course. I took one of your classes about a year ago, and if I recall correctly, I only had a short amount of time to decide. At the time, I didn’t have any pastels, but I did have a kids' chalk set and some construction paper. I gave it a try and still had fun. I remember your comments were very kind.

Since then, I’ve stepped up my game. I was recently reintroduced to pastels by another member and finished a few projects; I absolutely love working with them. They are so forgiving and enjoyable to use for creating images. I truly loved this course! Your cottage piece is such a wonderful scene to paint. Is that your own creation, or is it an image in the public domain? Either way, it was awesome!

After I took the photos, I thought about going back to work more on the water on the left side, where the dark bank is. It looks like it needs just a little tweak or two. Overall, I am very happy with how the piece turned out. Lately, I’ve been surprising myself with my pastel work; I feel like I’ve been using them for much longer than just a few weeks.

I was lucky to find a set of 80 Sennelier pastels on eBay for $65. They were used but in very good condition. I painted this piece on sand-colored Pastelmat and using Sennelier, Rembrandt, Faber-Castell, and some NuPastels.

Thanks again for a very fun class!
