Discerning Geeks Portal - Episode #161
I have been editing the "Discerning Geeks Portal" podcast since its inception in 2020 (with the exception of one episode). So, I'm used to GarageBand. I took this training for the possibility of filling in any gaps of knowledge, and I did learn a couple new things. The screenshot & link are for our episode #161, which was our 2nd-longest episode and needed quite a bit of editing, including something I did learn from this training.
The editing I do mostly involves removing uhs, uhms, other filler words, awkward pauses, coughs, background sounds, and other noises. I insert an intro & two bumpers, intro & outro music, and other occasional music. Our podcast is a fun, irreverent one, so I also add (hopefully) funny sound effects and voice clips where appropriate. I also use GarageBand to separately edit reusable intro segments, reusable segment bumpers, and occasionally for "Previous On..." opening montages for the 2nd part of two-parters or for other occasions when I want to start an episode with a callback to old episode(s).
The main thing I learned from this training was how to alter automation per track, especially for things like echo or reverb, without having to create a separate track for different settings.
