For this class, I decided to take a digital approach. Somehow I have never been a fan of charcoal or just plain pencil. Since I have an iPad I decided to use Procreate for this exercise. I used a colored reference photo to practice seeing value through color.

 

I used an oil brush and worked in one layer only. I tried to be as faithful to traditional art as possible. I reserved my darkest black for only a few shadows. In a similar notion, I reserved my full white for only the brightest highlights.
