Defeating the monsters

Hello!
What a wonderful class! So well put together and fun. I really love the way Avery turned all those little annoying voices that keep us from creating into monsters with distinct personalities (the designs alone are awesome!) that you can defeat one by one.
So here's what I did:
First I started a new sketchbook for this project, yay! Unfortunately the paper turned out not to be great, so I had some issues with layering and mixed media, but that's OK.
I prepared lots of pages with splatters, streaks, backgrounds and random collage bits. Then I made this title page to set the mood:
The big shapes exercise:
(probably my least favourite page, but whatever)
Assembly line time!
First human faces
Then some nonhuman creatures:
Me vs realism:
Actually, I understand that this is pretty realist still. But my inspiration came from a cactus, OK?
A meditative pattern:
And last but not least, giving some love to a page I didn't like:
Actually, I started doing the anti-realism exercise on this page. I was going to use a bright red lamp on my desk as inspiration. But I was really uninspired by it and gave up pretty quickly. So when I went back, this weirdly proportioned lady turned up. I am still not sure about this result, which is why I added the speech bubble. She has a lot of sass, this one, so I'll just let her be.
Thanks a lot for this wonderful class, Avery! I had a great time and learned a lot!
