Comparing Vintage and Modern flat washes
Practicing the flat wash vintage and modern. Vintage wash leaves lines. But, if you carefully paint it then go back over it, it becomes like a wet wash and dries much darker the first wash. The modern wash is easier and more fun. Laying the water down, then dropping paint in, watching it run in the water is so much more satisfying:) but, it dries much lighter with the addition of water and usually requires a second wash to darken it up. Painting around objects is just difficult, if you are trying to achieve an even wash. I prefer to mask where I can.

Thank you for a fun and engaging class. I had not given my washes much thought until this class :) I enjoyed the science experiment approach :)
