Colorful Horse

Colorful Horse - student project

This is my first completed class project with you, Maria, and I’m so glad that I finished this time. I watched the apple class back when I first started with watercolor but never managed to complete it. I still struggle with wet-on-wet techniques, especially in large areas, but I told myself to stick with it and follow your well-structured process. I painted it on an 8x8 piece of Arches, but maybe next time I would use a larger format.

Unfortunately, my iPad battery died while I was starting Lesson 12, Part 9 (painting the mane, eye, body, and final touches), so I finished the painting on my own. Once the iPad was charged, I watched the remaining lessons and realized how beneficial it would have been to see you paint the mane specifically, along with the rest of the lessons. Normally, I watch all the lessons before starting a painting, but I didn't do that this time. Lesson learned!

Overall, my colorful horse looks like a horse and has contributed to my learning experience. Thank you for putting together such a great class with clear instructions. Someday, I hope to try painting the apples again, or perhaps even your black animal class. :)
