Hello Silvia! So I have mocked up a short cover letter for my proposals and I have not been hearing a ton back. Would you mind looking over it and giving me some feedback? Thank you in advance! My name is Alicia and I am a freelance graphic designer that has been working in the space for about 6 years with companies such as the Texas legends basketball team and the North texas chapter of the leukemia and lymphoma society. Hey Ali! So first off I gotta say that although I understand the value of having a template, I don't often recommend it that much because some people tend to copy-paste it over and over. But I do like that you've added space to customize it, that definitely helps. I'd still recommend you check out the checklist I emailed you and consider using something like that rather than a template.
That being said, the main changes I'd make to your template are:
- deleting the "To whom it may concern", that feels too generic
- adding their name after "Hello"
- focusing more on their needs and how you can help THEM, not so much your own skills (they can see that in your profile)

Other than that, I feel that if you go through the checklist and tweak that message accordingly, you should be fine ;) ps: I've had a lot of clients succeed with adding video, so please don't discard that suggestion!

Hey Ali! Thanks for participating in the challenge! You were spot on on the red flags - I'd only add that to me it's not that the hourly rate is around minimum wage (that looks different around the world, for example if I'm comparing it to Portugal where I'm from, that's like more than double the hourly wage). Would I work for $8 now? no way. But to me it's that you can see in the job post they want an expert-level freelancer. And no one should expect expert-level for $8/hour.That being said, if you could send me your email I'd love to send you my proposal template/checklist ;)

The 2 red flags that stuck out to me were,one, the past comments of freelancers that had worked with this client as well as the hourly rate being just around minimum wage (8.60 per hour).
