Class Example: Everyday Sketchbook

Class Example: Everyday Sketchbook - student project

Hi there class!

This is all the info for one of the sketchbooks I made while filming this class. I've been using it since this Spring once I finished filming its construction and it's currently my third everyday sketchbook!

My sketchbooks are usually 5.5" x 7.5" and fit into an A5 notebook cover.

I used 2 full sheets of 22" x 30", 100% cotton, 90lb watercolor paper. The first half is Saunders Waterford, 90lb, CP, High White and the second half is Saunders Waterford 90lb, Rough Press, High White.

Using one sheet of each, I have 16 spreads (32 pages), evenly split between the two varieties. By folding it in half repeatedly, I use the entire space of the paper without creating scraps. My pages end up a little larger than a standard 5" x 7" but I like the extra space. I also chose to rip my paper (carefully) when separating it, so I get a cool deckled edge to my sketchbook pages as seen in the photo below!

I used the backing board from an old spiral sketchbook to create the covers, and I used tools and thread I already owned from previous creative projects.

I'm probably about half-way through this sketchbook now and already thinking about what kind of sketchbook I want to try making next!
