Class #5 - Layering

The exercises were pretty easy

The final project however was super confusing, and not confusing because it was super hard to paint, it was just hard to keep track what petal you are drawing / painting.

So here are my steps

Step 1 : drew the flower on a piece of copier paper, utlined it with a fine liner and transfered the sketch on the watercolour paper. I've gone the extra step as I knew there was goimg to be a lot of erasing and didn't want to damage the watercolor paper.

Having the sketch on a separate piece of paper allows me to easily reattempt the project at a later stage.

Step 2 : inital wash. I might have gone a little bit darker than I entended, so as a result I ended up with slightly darker final values.

Step 3 : fist couple of layers. Here I just wanted to get in palce an initial feel of the different colours and tonalities

Step 4 : adjusting the values by comparing against my lightest and darkest tones

Step 5 : went back and lifted a couple of highlights using a damp brush and a paper towel
