Hmm. If that's the case, maybe there are a few things you could do to loosen up. You could try deconstructing the painting after it's finished :). Like, take a brush and start moving paint around. Look for parts of the painting where two objects have kind of the same value/color and completely blend them together (ex: the right side of the cherry in the back could completely blend with the background) and try to do that with one visible large brushstroke. You can also search google for "Tibor Nagy house". His houses are spectacularly painted and you can look at how his brushtrokes meet each other, where he places details, what he blends and what he doesn't. Studying his style might help you loosen up. Other than that, again, yours is a great painting and I can see you actually played around in the background with values and colors and it looks pretty loose back there :). Cheers!

They look great, Wendy :). Very detailed for such a small painting. Everything is pretty much on point, the shadow between the cherries, the reflections, the stems. The highlights look superb and they really show the texture of the cherries. I also love the color variation in the stems :). Awesome work!

Here is my resulting painting. I did have to wipe out the cherries and repaint them once but I am happier with the image now.
