My first drawing of the cardinal on Arches cold press 140lb paper.  I felt like I needed a practice cardinal as well, so I did a second cardinal on a more basic water color paper. (Photo below)I worked back and forth with the two paintings, trying to learn from what I may have felt were mistakes in my technique.
