Golden Hour

None of the golden hour shots from the beach location I used for the class were too interesting. The light was good, but there wasn't much atmosphere or interesting scenery. This image I think is a lot more interesting (although not strictly a landscape) and shows the quality of that warm, glowing late day light. I especially like the way the light shines through the leaves of the plants on the ground and creates such nice texture in the stones - each one has a rim light and deep shaddow. Taken with a Canon 5D Mk II and a 28mm f1.8 lens, hand held at 1/800 sec, f2.8, ISO 200. I think this image definantly gives a sense of warmth, new beginnings and maybe a guiding light.
Blue Hour

Taken about 15 minutes before sunrise looking south along the beach. I like the deep blues in the sky that are reflected by the blue tones and shaddows in the stones on the beach. The contrasting reds, oranges and yellows that are just starting to show over the horizon are not quite as vibrant as I would have liked - but I stil think they work to complete the composition. Taken hand held with a Nikon D200 with a kit lens 18-55 f3.5-5.6 at 18mm (zoomed out), 1/125 second, f8, ISO 800. I think this images gives a sense of stillness and calmness.
